For Seniors

> Eat a healthy diet. Limit sugary foods and drinks, which can contribute to tooth decay. > Drink plenty of water. Water helps rinse away food particles and helps keep the mouth moist. > See the dentist regularly. For checkups and cleanings, and to discuss any concerns you have about your oral health. > Be aware of the medications you are taking. Some medications can cause dry mouth, which can increase the risk of tooth decay > Quit smoking or using other tobacco products. Smoking and chewing tobacco can increase your risk of oral cancer, gum disease, and tooth loss. > Be aware of the signs of oral cancer. Oral cancer can appear as a sore, lump, or white or red patch in the mouth. If you notice any changes in your mouth that do not heal within two weeks, see your dentist right away.

For Kids

> Brush twice a day for two minutes each time. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Be sure to brush all surfaces of the teeth, including the backs and chewing surfaces. > Floss once a day. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth, where brushing can't reach. > Eat a healthy diet. Limit sugary foods and drinks, which can contribute to tooth decay. > Drink plenty of water. Water helps rinse away food particles and helps keep the mouth moist. > See the dentist regularly. For checkups and cleanings, and to discuss any concerns you have about your child's oral health. > Let them choose their own toothbrush and toothpaste. This will give them a sense of ownership and make them more likely to want to brush their teeth. > Use a timer to help them brush for the recommended two minutes. This can help them stay on track and make sure they are brushing for long enough. > Take them to the dentist for regular checkups and cleanings. This will help them get used to the dentist's office and make them more likely to be cooperative during dental visits.

Flossing

> Floss once a day to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth. > To floss, wind about 18 inches of floss around your middle fingers, leaving a few inches on each side. > Gently slide the floss between two teeth and curve it around the side of one tooth. > Move the floss up and down the side of the tooth to remove plaque and food particles. > Repeat on the other side of the tooth.

For Seniors & Kids 

> Use a timer to make sure you brush your teeth for two minutes. > If you have trouble flossing, try using a floss threader or floss picks. > To make brushing and flossing more fun, try using a flavored toothpaste or mouthwash. > To remove stains from your teeth, try using a whitening toothpaste or mouthwash.

Brushing

> Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. > Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. > Brush at a 45-degree angle to your gum line. Be sure to brush all surfaces of your teeth, including the front, back, and top. > Don't forget to brush your tongue
